Mission Statement

Healthy Forests of Chaffee County is grounded in the knowledge that fire mitigation practices exist which are less destructive and more effective than the removal and destruction of live healthy trees. We firmly oppose massive tree destruction as a primary method of fire mitigation considering data citing its ineffectiveness. We are committed to the redirection of dollars and resources currently being spent on these outdated, damaging efforts in favor of data-supported, forest-friendly alternatives. We demand our elected officials create concrete oversight to accomplish this.
